Under the neon lights of a cyperpunk dystopia, the ruins of the 'Chong Sing Apartments' hides a bloody mystery illuminated by both the traditions of Chinese folklore and the innovations of the industrial future. Quick Updates on Console Versions/Rewards Distributions
over 3 years ago – Thu, Jan 07, 2021 at 02:21:58 AM

Hi everyone,

This is Top Hat Studios, just dropping in to give everyone an update on the game and the console versions.

Firstly, the Switch version will be launching on 1/7. Just for clarity, the game includes up to the latest patch on Steam. We have heard a few reviewers ahead of time mention that on some displays the main character looks a bit blurry, so we are working to have a Switch 1.01 Patch out soon which will both fix this issue as well as decrease some load times and improve minor stuttering in some areas of the game.  For further clarity, this 1.01 will then be on the Switch Physical, NOT the 1.00. In case there are any bugs which are fixed between now and then on the PC version, these will also be mirrored. However, we do not believe there are any other bug reports which would be addressed as far as we're currently aware. Speaking of the physical, if you haven't had a chance to pre-order your physical, keep an eye out! We'll have news quicker than you may expect. Please note, as well, the game will simul-launch in all regions except Japan due to CERO complications. We are trying to figure that one out currently.

Regarding the fulfillment of the Switch codes for backers, we are in contact with EAS regarding with them and will be relaying them to backers as soon as we receive them ourselves; based on our last exchange, they should mostly go out tonight, so actually ahead of 1/7. If you do not receive them by the end of the day tomorrow, please contact us or leave a comment here. We apologize for any delays there.

Onto the PS4 version, we likely looking to do a dual release alongside vita within this quarter. We are trying to plan for next month, but have not yet confirmed this. The game is already out of PS4 QA though, and has passed. So we are simply finalizing dates rather than waiting on anything technical there. The PS4 release should have a universal release (all regions) on the same day.

Regarding Vita, there are a few things we would like to talk about. Firstly, the game has passed QA there for awhile, so there are no issues there. We are currently trying to schedule a simul-release with the PS4 version. Admittedly, the back-end for Vita on Sony is becoming increasing deprecated and hard to use (rather than even use the Dashboard we've had to try to communicate with Sony directly for metadata submissions and release date approvals), but the game will be delivered regardless. This, however, leads us into a bigger issue, which is SIEE (Europe) & Vita. We have been trying, to no avail, to get the game available there (as well as our other Vita catalog for those familiar, including Big Dipper, KDD, and Synergia). However, we will be completely transparent and honest, we are currently having no luck at all. Between esoteric requirements regarding manual PEGI ratings (which we have registered and been in contact with) alongside the lack of communication from SIE directly and their extremely deprecated Vita back-end, we're having trouble making any progress there. We will continue to try, but we apologize if we are not able to work something out. With Sony's "subtle" sunsetting of the Vita (i.e. how they've began to rotate out the web store awhile ago, or the constant on-device store troubles), this is increasingly hard. We are very lucky to be releasing in SIEA & SIE-Asia at all, all things considered, at this time. We know there were not a ton of backers who requested Vita EU keys, but for those who did, we will find a solution, as we want to fulfill something to you. For clarity, SIEE for PS4 is fine, this is only an issue for Vita. We are trying our best to find a solution.

With that said, Vita physicals will still be going out. Everything has been confirmed there and we are definitively good; if you missed them, keep an eye out in the near future. With that said, we wanted to talk about the porting process of the game to Vita. Admittedly, we are not as happy with the Vita port as we'd like to be. For clarity, the game does run without crashes, and of course has passed Sony's TRC. We are aware though that the Vita version is not as definitive of an experience as we'd like it to be. In order to get the game to run on Vita, we had to do significant downscaling of textures, and the FPS and load times are not as stable as we'd like them to be. Unfortunately, given the prior looming deadline for physicals, we had to do our best to make cuts in order to make sure the game could adhere to deadlines. Being able to guarantee SUZAKU could fulfill their physicals was important to us. However, we realize in doing so, the game is not as optimal as we'd like it to be. While the game is of course playable and without crashes, the FPS and load times are not optimal on the device. We want to express we are thankful to the vita community however, and assuming Sony allows us to, we will try our best to deliver patches fixing the performance to more optimal states. We want the Vita community to know we are massively grateful to them and want to ensure that they receive the best experience possible.

Lastly, we do want to note we are working on Xbox and should have more news for that soon. While we don't have specifics, it should be launching within the quarter.

We believe that's everything for now. If anyone has questions regarding the console versions feel free to ask us and we will answer them ASAP.

Happy New Year!
over 3 years ago – Thu, Dec 31, 2020 at 10:14:03 PM

To all of our backers and supporters, I just wanted to give you guys a last thank you for 2020! We will have several more updates in early 2021 regarding the PSVITA, PS4, physical items and other things, but for 2020 I just wanted to cap it off with  a sincere and humble thank you! Our launch, though rocky on PC eventually got rounded out to a positive review %, and we are 7 days away from the Nintendo Switch digital launch! We are hoping for big things there, and will keep you updated every step of the way.

I do want to apologize as well for the slow updates recently. Unfortunately, possibly from covid or other complications, as well as holidays our Sony platform digital releases have passed lotcheck, testing, and have been approved, but we have not been given a release date yet. Once we get that approval we will announce it immediately! I am very excited to get digital codes to you backers, and physical copies will begin manufacturing processes as fast as we possibly can. Our hard cover artbook print file is complete and ready to be sent to a printer, we are currently looking for the best options available for quality and efficiency, we may send out the digital version sooner and will let you all know soon. Mousepads and acrylic statues are ready to be shipped from the tophat offices and we expect to have all physical items sent out sometime in the late spring but will give a more firm schedule once we can nail it down, the world is a complex place for that kind of thing still.

For those wondering about additional release platforms(Xbox, GoG, etc), we will go over that once things are smoothly out on Sony!

We will also be making several non-sense related announcements regarding our studio after January 7th as well, so if you are excited about what we are building next keep an eye out!

2020 was a strange and often difficult year for many, at times for us as well, but above all it was a year of big steps for us and we couldn't have done this without you all! Thank you thank you thank you!

Console Digital Launch Inbound!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Dec 11, 2020 at 10:07:50 AM

Hey everyone! We have been hard at work the last few months on wrapping up the porting, testing, and submissions for Sense on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PSVITA, hence the lack of updates. This was a very involved process and to be honest, we had nothing we could really share. Not out of secrecy, but more so out of nothing exciting or worthwhile. Once the game got into the submission process it was just a waiting game on our end. We ended up failing a few times on each platform for various small bugs or issues which caused the process to take a bit longer than we were hoping, but the actual approval times took longer than we understood is normal regardless of that.

The good news is we are finally approved for digital release on all 3 platforms and are working out scheduling the release date! Nintendo Switch has been scheduled and is ready to go for January 7th! Sony dates are pending and we will let you know ASAP what that date is, but it will likely be shortly after Nintendo.

Also, our PSVITA cartridges are secured and ready for printing, so do not worry about this affecting physicals at all. Again, we have locked these in already and are excited to get the physical copies out! We believe that based on the time frames we are looking at sending all physical items out in Spring 2021!
